Become A Volunteer

Before you register...

NeighborLink helps people live out their faith through practical acts of neighboring. We make neighbor-sized projects easy to discover, reduce common barriers to service, and provide ongoing support and guidance along the way -- at no cost. Our goal is simple: help people serve well, build meaningful relationships, and experience transformation in the process. Together, we join the ongoing work of Jesus, translating everyday compassion into lasting community.

NeighborLink is powered by volunteers who freely choose projects that match their time, skills, and resources. For many, what begins as a single act of service grows into an ongoing lifestyle of neighboring.

Before registering, please take a moment to learn how NeighborLink works and what makes us different from other organizations. Have any questions or concerns? Please contact our team. We're happy to help!

What to expect:

IMPORTANT! NeighborLink's mission and approach are unique. Volunteers often enter vulnerable spaces and interact directly with neighbors who have invited them into their homes. Because we value the dignity and safety of every person we serve, all volunteers are required to complete a background check before using our platform.

After registering, you'll be asked to submit a background check application as the final step. The cost is $25, but NeighborLink will gladly cover the fee if it presents a financial hardship. We can also accept recent background checks from employers, churches, nonprofits, or other organizations. Most background checks are completed within a few days, though they may take longer if you've lived in multiple states or counties.

Once your background check has cleared, volunteer registrations are typically reviewed within 2–3 business days. You'll receive an email when your registration has been approved or denied.

(NOTE: Because NeighborLink is designed to create direct, voluntary connections between neighbors, it is generally not a good fit for court-ordered community service, required service hours, sweat equity programs, or similar arrangements. If that's what you're looking for, we'd be happy to connect you with another organization that may be a better fit!)
