There's a gap: neighbors needing a hand + neighbors willing to help.
Across the country, millions of homeowners -- seniors aging in place, individuals with disabilities, single parents, veterans -- struggle to keep up with basic home maintenance and other tangible needs.
Simple needs like yardwork or minor repairs can go unmet for months or even years, making it harder to live safely and with dignity.
At the same time, people in those same communities are willing to help. They just don't know where to start.
So, we created
NeighborLink.
NeighborLink is a FREE web platform that connects neighbors facing home maintenance and repair challenges with groups and neighbors willing to help. Our online network is available to anyone who needs help or is ready to serve.

Neighboring.
Since 2003, NeighborLink has been helping neighbors serve neighbors in simple, practical ways.
We make it easy to see real needs and respond, connecting people who need help with people who are ready to give it.
Through small acts of service, neighbors facing challenges -- whether from aging, disability, or other life circumstances -- can stay in their homes and live with dignity.
Along the way, something deeper happens: relationships form, isolation fades, and communities grow stronger, one act of kindness at a time.

Why?
Those who have been forgiven much, love much. NeighborLink was founded on grace and forgiveness, two truths that compel us to love God and our neighbors in tangible ways. This love leads us to overlooked people and places, where needs often go unseen and unmet.

Stories
Behind every request is a neighbor with a story to tell. The following are real examples shared by volunteers -- snapshots of how a simple project can restore dignity and create a lasting connection.

Project #45909: Painting - Exterior (06/28/2026)
We had an amazing time painting for Bertha and she kept us entertained with stories while we worked. She was so kind and well prepared for us to get right to work. It was a blessing to serve her.

Project #46574: Tangible Property Repair (06/23/2026)
Beyond repairing the fence, I had the opportunity just to listen to the homeowner share a bit of her life's story with me. I looked at photos and heard of her special interests and activities. Because we helped this neighbor, she has signed up to be a Dream Center volunteer.

Project #46643: Heating / HVAC (06/18/2026)
They had 3 other companies come in to try and solve this problem. They all told her it will take between $5000-8,000 dollars to correct the concern without knowing exactly what was causing the smell. One of the companies was a home inspector from Indiana. I found the problem and it will cost $50.00 to correct.

Project #46302: Home Improvement (06/04/2026)
Connie and Dan were a wonderful couple who just ran into trouble installing a new knob on an old door. They were very friendly and accommodating and it was a pleasure to help them.

Project #46170: Auto Repair (05/21/2026)
This project served a client of Cooper House -- a biological mother working hard to regain custody of her kids that are currently in foster care. She found that a brake pad had fallen off her caliper and so I stepped into what was originally going to be a simple, standard brake job. That became a much bigger project, due to also needing all new calipers, brake line repairs, parking brake fixes, and a full bleeding process at the master cylinder, ABS module, and all 4 wheels. I also did standard maintenance while I had the car up (oil/filter changes, etc) and replaced a busted rear taillight. What was awesome about the whole experience was being able to build a relationship during the whole process, with both the client and Cooper House staff. We had the opportunity for lots of hugs, long convos, and letting her know why we were doing it: because she's worth it.

Project #46048: Yard Work (05/20/2026)
Great connection point talking about our desire for unity in the city!

Project #45537: Tangible Property Repair (05/19/2026)
Steve is a Army Veteran, and his deck was about to fail at the first step getting out of the house. We ended up replacing all supporting structure except 2 boards #remodel. We spent the first day with Steve all day and got the pleasure of getting to know more about him and his love for baseball and animals. He is an amazing person, healing for all on this one!

Project #46173: Home Improvement (05/05/2026)
This project came up pretty quick as the homeowner fell through the existing cover and needed it repaired for safety purposes, so our volunteers acted fast and got the job done.

Project #46099: Tangible Property Repair (04/29/2026)
This was the first time I've come across an emergency "I'm trapped in my house and can't get out" request! This neighbor was a widowed and disabled senior that uses a cane to get around, along with her adult son with his own challenges. They're unable to use the front door due to steep, broken steps. The internals of the rear door's knob broke apart, effectively trapping them in the house for multiple days and causing them to miss multiple doctor appointments. It needed nothing more than a door knob replacement, but the relief in their faces was hard to put into words.

Project #44328: Wheelchair Ramp Build (01/07/2026)
She was a long-time parishioner of St. Vincents church in Fort Wayne as well as the long-time housekeeper for the priest rectory. With age she is now living and being taken care of by her daughter in Columbia City. As her health has declined, she needed a wheelchair ramp in order to enter and exit her home safely. The Carpenters Sons with the Saint Vincent de Paul Society found this project to be a true blessing to be able to help someone they know and who has given so much to our church.
