Project #46766: Just Need a Helping Hand

Hi neighbors,

My name is Chantel, and my husband and I are reaching out because our family is going through one of the hardest seasons

We are a family with young children ages 4 and 3, and I’m currently pregnant with our baby girl due this fall. Due to financial hardship and housing issues, we’ve lost a lot of our stability and are having to move from the Portland area back to Southern Oregon by the end of the month.

My husband serves in the Army Reserve, and we’ve been doing everything we can to get back on our feet, but right now we’re overwhelmed. The biggest challenges we’re facing are:

* Finding or securing a moving truck we can afford
* Help with moving expenses or gas
* Extra hands to help load or unload
* Packing supplies like boxes or totes
* Any resources for military families, housing, or emergency assistance

We’ve exhausted many of the resources we knew about and are trying not to lose hope. With two little kids who don’t fully understand what’s happening and another baby on the way, this transition has been emotionally and financially exhausting.

If anyone has advice, knows of any resources or is able to help in any way, we would be so grateful. Also, we live on a third floor. Moving with all our kids will be so hard with our present living situation. So many of our neighbors are leaving also because of the financial strain of our apartment.
