Volunteers who claim projects through NeighborLink complete a background check.

This step is one of the ways organizations help protect homeowners, many of whom may be older adults, individuals with disabilities, or neighbors navigating challenging seasons of life.

While no system can eliminate every risk, background checks help ensure that the people responding to projects have been vetted before entering someone's home or property.

These simple safeguards help create an environment where trust can grow.

Your Comfort Matters

Every homeowner has the right to decide what feels comfortable during a project.

Many volunteers enjoy meeting the neighbors they are serving and hearing their stories. These conversations can often be among the most meaningful moments of a project.

At the same time, homeowners should never feel pressured to interact in ways that feel uncomfortable.
